Pick one E70 X5:
* 2013 35d, fully optioned, third row, color combo you want, 85k miles, $18.5k
* 2009 35d, minimal options, two row, color combo you don’t hate, 100k miles, $14k
* Any not-diesel of your choice for less than shown above
ETA: my second choice is a GX460 of same vintage, but they’re so boring.

Option 1. Pay a little more and have no regrets*
*other than inevitable regret of buying a used X5

Is the same engine that’s in the 335d?
If so, is death an option?

Yes. I thought it wasn’t that bad?

Every time I’ve talked to someone who has owned a 335d, they say 2 things:
- it’s an absolute blast to drive, with tons of torque. Very quick.
- it’s a maintenance nightmare.

Definitely not diesel, preferably a 3.0si.

Why X5 tho?

Perfect size. Most amount of equipment for the money. Great mileage. Most fun to drive. Literally the only vehicle I’ve ever been in that I’ve enjoyed driving.

2013 seems like an easy choice there

I’d take the two row over the three as the third row option mandates air suspension instead of coils.

What happened to your Prius?

Get a nice 35i. I love the engine in my 335i and it's not gonna be as bad to maintain as the 35d. It's so fast. So easy to tune. And it's cheaper. Get the newest/nicest one you can get.

i’d rather walk than own an X5
